Image Cropper
Crop photos to any shape: square, 16:9, 4:5, Story or passport size. Rotate and flip, then download as JPG, PNG or WebP. Nothing is uploaded.
Tip: use the arrow keys to nudge the box.
How to crop an image
- Choose a photo or drag it onto the box.
- Pick a shape, or leave it on Free to crop any size.
- Drag the box to move it and drag a corner to resize it. For pixel-perfect results, type exact values into Left, Top, Width and Height, or select the box and use the arrow keys (hold Shift to move 10 pixels at a time).
- Press Download cropped image.
Your photo is cropped inside your browser and is never uploaded, so it is safe for ID photos and private pictures.
Which shape should I use?
- Square 1:1: profile pictures and square posts.
- Portrait 4:5: the tallest photo most social feeds show in full.
- Story 9:16: Stories, Reels, Shorts and phone wallpapers.
- 16:9: YouTube thumbnails, presentations and widescreen banners.
- 4:3 and 3:2: classic camera and print shapes.
- Passport 35×45: the photo size used for passports and visas in the UK, EU, Pakistan, India and many other countries. Check your own country’s rules for head size and background colour.
Rotate and flip
Use Left and Right to turn a sideways photo the right way up, and Flip to mirror it, for example a selfie with back-to-front text. The crop box resets after each turn so it always fits the image.
Cropping keeps full quality
Cropping removes the edges and keeps the remaining pixels exactly as they were. To make the cropped photo a particular size in pixels afterwards, use the Image Resizer. To make the file smaller, use the Image Compressor.
Image Cropper FAQs
Answers about crop shapes, quality and privacy.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?+
No. The image is cropped by your own browser and never sent to our servers.
Does cropping lower the quality?+
No. Cropping only cuts away the edges. Saving as PNG keeps every pixel exactly; JPG and WebP at quality 90 or above look the same to the eye.
How do I make a passport photo?+
Choose Passport 35×45, move the box so your face is centred with space above your head, then download. Check your country's rules for head size and background before printing.
Can I crop to an exact pixel size?+
Yes. Choose Free, then type the Width and Height you want. Use the Image Resizer afterwards if you need to scale it up or down.
Does it work on a phone?+
Yes. You can drag the box and corners with your finger in any modern mobile browser.
