Image Resizer
Resize photos to exact pixels or by percentage, crop to social media sizes and save as JPG, PNG or WebP. Your image never leaves your device.
How to resize an image
- Choose a photo or drag it onto the box. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP files work.
- Type a new width or height in pixels, or switch to By percentage and move the slider.
- Pick a format and quality, check the preview, then press Download image.
Everything happens inside your browser using the HTML canvas. Your photo is not uploaded, so private images stay private and large files are not slowed down by your internet speed.
Keeping the right shape
The link button between width and height keeps the aspect ratio locked, so changing one side updates the other and nothing looks stretched. If you unlock it or pick a preset with a different shape, the tool crops the centre of your photo to fill the new size. Untick Crop to fill if you really want the image stretched.
Popular image sizes
- Square post: 1080 × 1080 px
- Story or Reel: 1080 × 1920 px
- YouTube thumbnail: 1280 × 720 px
- Full HD screen or slide: 1920 × 1080 px
Which format should I choose?
JPG is best for photos and gives small files. PNG keeps sharp edges and transparent backgrounds, which suits logos and screenshots, but files are larger. WebP gives the smallest files at good quality and works in all modern browsers. For JPG and WebP, a quality of 80 to 90 is usually impossible to tell apart from the original.
Making an image bigger
You can enlarge an image up to 10,000 pixels on each side, but enlarging cannot add detail that was not there. Large increases will look soft. For the sharpest results, start from the largest original you have.
Image Resizer FAQs
Answers about resizing, quality and privacy.
Is my image uploaded to a server?+
No. The image is resized inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers, and closing the page removes it.
Will resizing reduce the quality?+
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp, because the tool resamples in steps. Making it much larger will look softer, since no new detail can be created.
How do I resize without stretching?+
Keep the link button between width and height switched on. If you need a different shape, leave Crop to fill ticked and the centre of the photo is cropped instead of stretched.
Can I reduce the file size too?+
Yes. Smaller dimensions give a smaller file. Saving as JPG or WebP with quality around 80 reduces it further.
Does it work on my phone?+
Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers on iPhone and Android, with no app to install.
